Gravel Pack

When the integrity of the well wall is collapsing or maybe sloughing off gradually, to hold the well wall up in place a gravel pack is used. Polished gravel is placed between the well wall and the casing.
Without the gravel pack the collapsing well wall debris will bury the pump.
Than you will have to drill another well.
The gravel pack is polished gravel all different sizes. Rounded somewhat like marbles.
Imagine a glass filled with marbles. Between the rounded contours of the marbles there are spaces where water can flow around the marbles into your well.
Many drillers steer you away from Gravel-Packing.
They know you will call them back for another well within several years.
